About Us

Nestled in the heart of the beautiful Sequatchie Valley in downtown Dunlap, TN, Blue Orchid Bistro offers a dining experience as unique as its renovated 100 year old location.  This family owned and operated restaurant prides itself in using only the freshest ingredients in all of their made-from-scratch dishes.

For lunch, choose from crisp and flavorful salads, signature soups, or delicious sandwiches and wraps.  Or come in for a relaxing dinner and lose yourself in one of the chef's exquisite creations such as citrus salmon, apricot bourbon chicken or peppercorn encrusted steak with cognac sauce.  Make sure to save room to indulge in one of her hand-crafted desserts.  Beer and wine are available.

The Bistro is family friendly and has a great "kidz" menu.  Come as you are - no need to dress up unless you want to.  The ambiance is casual yet elegant, warm and relaxing.  The food and service are excellent. You are sure to enjoy the scenic drive to this destination restaurant. It is a beautiful drive in the country from wherever you are.

About our Chef:

Christina Anderson has wanted to be a chef since the age of 15. She attended a summer culinary program at the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale where she won the Creative Achievement award and was offered a scholarship. 

In her junior year of high school, she was accepted in the early admittance program at Johnson & Wales University in North Miami.  During her senior year of high school, she attended Johnson & Wales and was admitted to the Silver Key Honor Society.  She served as an intern at the Ritz Carlton Beach Resort in Naples and was hired to work part time while she finished her degree.  She graduated Summa Cum Laude at the age of 21 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Food Service Management.

Christina has experience working every position in a variety of restaurants.  She has worked for a wide range of establishments, from independent family owned restaurants, to the Ritz Carlton, Hilton Hotels, and The Cheesecake Factory.

It has been Christina's dream to have her own restaurant.  The opening of Blue Orchid Bistro makes her dream a reality.

About the Owners:

Proprietors Randy and Linda Slomian are high school sweethearts and the parents of Christina.  Both graduated from the University of Central Florida in Orlando, Florida. 

After Christina graduated from college and moved away, Randy and Linda decided to sell their home in Miami and move somewhere with a slower pace, beautiful natural scenery, and lots of friendly people. Their home near Dunlap is just what they were looking for. Christina fell in love with the Sequatchie Valley the first time she visited. It didn’t take long before plans for the Blue Orchid Bistro were in full swing, with the support of her husband Paul.

We can accommodate parties up to 65 people in size.
